280. (a) Greenwich time, which is adopted throughout all the Railways in Great Britain, will be sent to the principal Stations daily, by telegraph, in accordance with the special instructions on the subject.
(b) Station-masters and Signalmen will be held responsible for keeping their Clocks properly regulated, and must, if necessary, at once report any defects in their working, in order that steps may be taken for their immediate repair.
NOTE.- Block Signal-boxes not provided with Speaking Instruments will be supplied with the time in accordance with Block Telegraph Regulations.
281. In order to ensure uniform time being kept at all Stations on the Line to which time is not telegraphed, the following instructions must be observed:-
(i) Each Guard must, before starting on his journey, satisfy himself that his Watch is correct with the Clock at the Station from which he starts, and must again compare it with, and, if necessary, regulate it by, the clock at the Station where his journey ends, before commencing his return journey.
(ii) The Station-master or person in charge must obtain the precise time from the Guard in charge of the first stopping Passenger train commencing its journey after 10 a.m., and, in the event of the time given by the Guard differing from that of the Station Clock, the latter must be altered to agree, and regulated accordingly.
